Debbie Brandel, M.S., Principal

Ms. Brandel is a Principal with Preferred Health Strategies. She develops reimbursement and contracting strategies for pharmaceutical and biotech companies, device manufacturers and the hospital industry. Her areas of expertise include Medicare, Medicaid and the commercial sector. Her work generally focuses on projects related to pre-launch activities and reimbursement support for existing products, including resolution of provider billing issues and analysis of regulatory and legislative changes at both the State and Federal level. Ms. Brandel's work for the hospital industry includes the negotiation of complex managed care contracts covering both inpatient and outpatient services. Ms. Brandel's experience across industries helps to build and maintain client relationships with key decision-makers in the managed care industry.

Prior to joining PHS, Ms. Brandel spent two years at Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New York City, where she played a leading role in developing and implementing managed contracting arrangements. At the outset of her career, Ms. Brandel served as the acting Branch Chief for the Medicare and Medicaid programs in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Management and Budget in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. She was responsible for reviewing all policy and budget related issues for the Medicare and Medicaid programs. She also served as a liaison with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (formerly HCFA), the Executive Office of Management and Budget and Capitol Hill.

Ms. Brandel received her Master of Science Degree in Public Policy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
